Subject : The End Of An Era
Date : Fri, 27 Jun 2003 22:00:01 EDT
It's truly the end of an era. Over the years, Talkshow91 went thru many phases, but the last 2 years have been the best by far. Most college radio shows are fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants types of things, with few of the strengths and almost all the weaknesses of impromptu, unscripted airtime. It became clear to any dedicated listener that Talkshow91 evolved into a show that was well-planned, with scripts that were well-written. And the way that the outrageous skits and commercials were put across just got better and better, with the Talk91 cast developing excellent comedic delivery & timing. Editing of tapes, and the blending of music & sound effects became seamless. Add to this portions of the show where the co-hosts really did chat and ad lib, and the outcome was a show that moved right along, kept listeners entertained, and was funny as hell, without resorting to the mean-spirited, disrespectful, in-your-face stuff that these days passes for humor. This was all the more remarkable, given the fact that the show was 3 hours long. It is unheard of in college radio for a show to be 3 hours long - and to improve in quality as the weeks & months go by! Talkshow91 was one of a kind. It was in a class by itself. It was the best. Talkshow91 will be missed. Sunday evenings will be empty without it.

Wow! This is great news. The reason I wrote an Email every week is because you produced the best show on the radio. I want to thank you for giving me a creative outlet for the last 18 month. Getting this job will help you with the creative process. I know that life is a balance between having money to support all things you want to do and having the time to comlpete quality projects. It's all a part of being a professional. Talk Show 91 is just the beginning and there's an infinite amount of creative things to do. I want to continue to work with you on a variety of projects. Arielle, you are so talented. Your work speaks for itself. Comedy skits, music, variety shows ect. Anyway, I want so much to contunue working with you. The Email I sent yesterday will be my last Mr. Domino. Keeping with the tone of the show, it will be a great way to end it. I'm looking foward to hearing the last show on sunday. And as far as the TS91 fund drive goes, it's now official - The cash has been raised. Congradulations!

First off, congratufuckinglations on getting hired by WAMC! That's fucking great, I wish you the best of luck with that. Secondly, I'm sad to hear the Talk Show is going to be no more. It's been a WCDB institution forever, and I sort of thought it would just always be there. I guess the new breed of DJs just don't have the heart for radio like you obviously do. I know we haven't always seen eye to eye about the Talk Show, but I want you to know that I've been very impressed with the way you've stuck with it for so long, right through to the bitter end. Good job, man. Good job.
